BetaCon 2025: Monarchy Band Members Joseph Burns and Ethan Dale King to Compete

The National Beta Club, established in 1934, is the largest independent, non-profit, educational youth organization in America. Its mission is to promote the ideals of academic achievement, character, service, and leadership among students—and it has impacted the lives of the Monarchy band members.

Three of Monarchy's bandmates are members of the National Beta Club. Competing this year in performing arts, band members Joseph Burns and Ethan Dale King will play and sing "Simple Man" in Branson, Missouri.

Many distinguished individuals have been part of the National Beta Club, including recent recipients of the Distinguished Alumni Award: Kristy Bates, Chance Gillman, and Lauren Moulard. Renowned singer-songwriter and actor, Justin Timberlake, was a member of the National Beta Club during his school years, and celebrated country musician Trisha Yearwood was also a member of the National Beta Club.

The members of Monarchy have a rich history with Beta.

• Ethan Dale King is a five-time state champion and two-time national champion in solo performing arts. Recently, he earned second in the nation with his instrumental cover of Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Free Bird." Watch it here.

• Adam Birk also has many solo accomplishments, including a third-place national win with his original piano arrangement in Oklahoma City, OK. Collaboratively, he and Ethan secured second place nationally with an instrumental duet of "House of the Rising Sun." Watch it here.

• Additionally, Ethan and Joseph Burns were part of a small group in 2023 that became state champions and later placed eighth nationally with an instrumental cover of Aerosmith's "Dream On." Watch it here.

The National Beta Club has been instrumental in shaping the character and talents of Ethan, Joseph, and Adam. The organization's emphasis on achievement, character, service, and leadership has provided them with opportunities to develop their musical skills and personal growth.

We are excited to announce that Ethan Dale King and Joseph Burns will be competing as a duo in the performing arts category at the 2025 Missouri State Beta Convention. They will perform "Simple Man," both playing guitar and singing, in Branson, Missouri, from January 16-18.
